Transition Morning
Every year we have a Transition Day at the end of the Summer Term. On Transition day the children swap classes for the morning so they can meet their new class teachers and work in their new classrooms. We also hold a Welcome Meeting in the hall for each year group where parents have the opportunity to meet their child’s new teachers and find out about the year ahead.
Dates and times of the meetings will be in the school newsletters.
Home Visits ~ Nursery
Mrs Clarke our Nursery Teacher and Mrs Thompson our Nursery Nurse will visit you and your child at home at the start of the Autumn Term. This visit enables the Nursery staff to meet your child in their own home environment and provides an opportunity for you to discuss any issues or concerns. At the home visit there is an opportunity for your child to share ‘something special’ with the Nursery staff.

Transition to Secondary School
During Year 3 – Year 6 at our school, strong links are made with Kenton School. This helps to prepare the children for transfer at the end of Year 6. Children and parents have the opportunity to visit the school and meet the Head Teacher and staff.
The children in Year 5 visit Kenton School for a whole day during the Summer Term to give them an insight into life at Secondary School.
The children in Year 6 visit Kenton School for two weeks during the Summer Term. During this time the children, whilst completing a full timetable of lessons, learn, amongst other things, the routine of the school day, how to get around the school, how the lunchtime system works, requirements and expectations in and out of lessons as well as having the opportunity to meet new friends ready for September.
They also complete a bus induction with Nexus which explains how they can get to and from school most easily to suit their needs.
There are also regular opportunities to visit Kenton throughout the year as part of the More Able and Talented programme.
Our school holds review meetings with Kenton school staff for children who have additional needs including those who are more able and talented.
