Research shows that when parents are involved, children do better and achieve more. Parents, carers and family members are by far the most important influences on their children’s lives. By becoming involved in the life of your child’s school you can show your child that their education is important to you.
Leading Parent Partnership Award
The LPPA (Leading Parent Partnership Award) is a nationally recognised award achievable by schools who work closely with the families of its pupils.
The award provides a challenging framework within which schools can strengthen their partnership with parents and carers. There are 10 evidence based objectives which we must meet to obtain the award.
For more information about the award or the objectives please click the link to their websitehttp://www.lppa.co.uk
The LPPA working party (also known as the parent partnership group) meets at least once a term and are working through each of the 10 objectives and collating evidence to put into the portfolio. Each meeting often has a different focus and there are many ways in which you can contribute your ideas so please do come along if you can.
The LPPA process enables us to:
Friends of Kingston Park Primary School
In addition to our parent partnership group, all parents automatically become ‘Friends of Kingston Park Primary School` (FKPPS).
We hope that you will be able to come to some of our meetings and events and support the school in whatever way you can. The types of activities the ‘Friends’ arrange are groovy movie nights, coffee mornings and the Summer and Christmas fayres. All of the money raised goes towards providing the “extras” for all children in school. This could be buying more library books or musical instruments, providing free book bags, PE bags and water bottles when your child starts school.
We have a committee of parents and staff who try to arrange events and activities. Anyone interested in becoming part of the ‘Friends’ committee, please contact any of the committee or the school office.
There is an Annual General Meeting in the Autumn Term when new committee members are elected.
Parents and the Wider Community
Parents and the wider community play a valuable and active role in our school, offering their services, goodwill and expertise.
We see our role as working in partnership with the community and have an open door policy. We believe that by working together we are better able to develop the child’s potential and establish vital understanding between home and school.
Some parents feel able to help with activities in the classroom. A number of parents work with children in baking, sewing, reading, mathematics, art & crafts and so on. Some parents come on school outings. Perhaps there is a way you would like to help? Just let us know. The Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher are available at the start of each day when welcoming children and parents into school.
